Recorded at Sankei Hall, Tokyo, Japan on March 4 and 7, 1971 and released 1971 only in Japan as a double LP, this album presents the great B.B. King on guitar and vocals, backed by a wonderful band including, Earl Turbington & Louis Hubert on saxophones, Joe Burton on trombone, John Browning on trumpet, Wilbert Freeman on bass, Ron Levy on piano, and Sonny Freeman on drums. Among the many highlights are the impromptu jam "Japanese Boogie," "Jamming at Sankei Hall," and "Hikari #88", as well as perennial gems like "How Blue Can You Get?," "Hummingbird," and, of course, "The Thrill Is Gone".
