Live at Cafe Au Go Go, released by the BluesWay label in 1967, presents blues icon John Lee Hooker performing live with The Muddy Waters Blues Band. This is real, raw, rough and ragged blues in the slow-driving style of John Lee Hooker with his gritty, deadpan delivery. The album features a stellar cast of musicians, including Waters and Luther Johnson on guitar, and Otis Spann on the piano. The backing band tastefully complements Hooker rather than overpowering him while maintaining a minimalist blues style despite the number of musicians on stage. Otis Spann shines on this LP, which includes such highlights as "Heartaches and Misery", "I'm Bad Like Jesse James", and "I Don't Want No Trouble." It is widely regarded as one of the greatest live blues recordings of all time.
