Limited Edition 180 Gram LP

Elemental Music presents a 180 gram LP reissue of Sex Machine Today, a 1975 album released by the Godfather of Soul on the Polydor label. It is considered one of his best works of that decade, as it takes the core James Brown sound of the “Sex Machine” generation, and serves it up with a tighter mid 70’s funkier flavor. Fred Wesley is still very firmly at the helm of the band — and there’s a power here that’s equal to the later JB’s work on the Breakin’ Bread album. The grooves are nicely free of the “fast funk” syndrome that would creep into James’ work a few years later. The LP includes a 12-minute remake of “Sex Machine” that’s worth the price on the album alone. Without a doubt, a great funky LP plenty of funkiness to go around, and super DJ-friendly to open the wilder funky sets.
